PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Inayatullah emphasized on effective policy to keep the losses lessen during any natural calamity.
Addressing an advocacy seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction here, he said an effective policy is inevitable to reduce risks of natural disasters and its’ losses, adding the provincial government is working on Relief Act in this regard.
He said natural calamities cannot be averted but their losses could be reduced through effective policies and prompt measures. He expressed sorrow over loss of lives and properties during the earthquakes and floods that hit Pakistan during past several years.
He said the provincial government has reconstructed several schools and health centers damaged due to floods in affected areas. He called for setting up of Balakot City.
Earlier, PDMA representative Riffat Anbareen said that health department should have to chalk out a comprehensive policy to cope emergencies during natural disasters.
Project Medical Coordinator Dr Gulshan and Dr Attiq on the occasion said that the communities should be sensitized in risk areas so that they could take timely decisions while any calamity hit.
The seminar was attended by local government representatives including Nazims and Councilors.
