Laws committee reviews water draft law

KABUL: Chaired by Second Vice President SarwarDanesh, laws committee held an extraordinary meeting the other day, during which water draft law reviewed BNA reported.

At the outset, the ministry of justice representative presented the water draft law approved by the cabinet on Hamal 20, 1398, according to the agency.

Management and protection of water resources, fair distribution of water, preparing the ground for effective and sustainable usage of water resources, economic growth through water resources and providing better services to users are among the main objectives of the draft law, BNA added. 

During the meeting, officials of the ministries for energy and water, agriculture, rural rehabilitation, finance, water supply, environment and other relevant administrations shared their suggestions on improving water draft law.

Afterwards, the meeting decided that in cooperation with the ministry of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, the ministry of urban development and other related administrations to construct and protect necessary water canals.

Likewise, the meeting decided that the ministry of energy and water is the only organ that will implement water law.  The ministry of justice was once again tasked to present the water draft law to the cabinet for further processing.(BNA)
