At least 400 airstrikes conducted against insurgents in Helmand in last eight months

KABUL: Military officials confirmed that around 400 airstrikes were conducted against the insurgent in Helmand province in the last eight months.

General Wali Mohammad Ahmadzai, Corps Commander of 215 Maiwand Military said that the airstrikes were carried out by both the Afghan forces and foreign troops against the anti-government forces and it bring positive results and were instrumental in eliminating the armed groups and adding that dozens of Taliban were killed in these airstrikes.

However, Helmand provincial council members said the airstrikes did not have any impact on Taliban activities in the province and still most of the districts are in the control of Taliban.

Fighting is also ongoing between Taliban and security forces in parts of Lashkargah city, the capital city of the province.
