Man injures girl, commits suicide

PESHAWAR: A man committed suicide after injuring his girlfriend and killing her father over the refusal of a marriage proposal by her father on Tuesday in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot Police Station.

Local police said that a 30-year-old Ali Akbar Afridi killed a 65-year-old Hazrat Umar and injured his 20-year old daughter Brehna with a knife after an exchange of verbal dispute at their house located at Kakshal area of Yakatoot when her father refused marriage proposal of Ali. Police added that the killer committed suicide and shot himself dead.

Police said that Brehna is a local dancer and Ali Akbar fell in love with her, however, on Tuesday Ali came to their house and upon the refusal of his proposal, Ali killed her father, injured his girlfriend and shot himself dead.

Police reached to the house and rushed the injured to Lady Reading Hospital. Police took the bodies into their custody and shifted the bodies to city morgue for postmortem.
