Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) on Thursday inked a contract with the Roshan and Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) for digital distribution of two government ministries employees’ salaries.

The digitalization of salary payment of the Education and Social Affairs Ministries employees would help curb corruption and eradicate the presence of imaginary workers in the state institutions, says the ministry.

Information Technology Minister Shahzad Gul Arubi said Afghanistan was moving towards digitalization, adding that this service would facilitate the employees of government ministries.

They would be able to collect their salaries from the Banks or branches of Roshan and AWCC, he said.

Arubi said with the introduction of new digital system, 30,000 employees of Education Ministry in Farah, Nangarhar and Parwan would get their salaries through the AWCC branches and 4,700 employees of Social Affairs Ministry from Banks and Roshan Telecommunication Company.

Mohammad Khalid Arshad, the Human Resource Officer of Education Ministry, said the number of their employees was 263,000 and said the new system would help stop the presence of imaginary employees.
