PESHAWAR: The two-member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Rooh-ul-Amin and Justice Attique Shah directed Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and Secretary Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with other respondents to submit comments before 12 October in case regarding Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT), on Tuesday.
The honorable court was hearing writ petition filed by Alamzeb Khan, Farooq Afridi and Salim Ahmad Khan on behalf of Shabeena Noor and Fawad Afzal before PHC.
Assistant Attorney General Taufiq Qureshi and PMC’s lawyer Abbas Sangeen Advocate appeared before court. During hearing Justice Attique Shah inquired that what steps had been taken by government to address grievances of failed students across the country because the matter is still pending?
The counsel for petitioner informed PHC that PMC had violated its own rules and regulations because the section 18 of PMC Act 2020 stating that the test shall be conducted on same day across the country but it was started from 1 August and ended on 30 September.
The counsel further argued that test was prepared from syllabus of Federal Board which had also effect medical aspirant students of the province.
The counsel for petitioner requested to suspend results of MDCAT and admissions in medical colleges till disposal of this instant writ petition, however after initial arguments PHC directed PMC, Secretary and testing agency along with other respondents to submit comments before 12 October and adjourned further hearing.
