ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Khurshid Shah on Wednesday has predicted that meeting between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar will backfire.
Talking to the media in Islamabad on Wednesday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader told that a meeting between the heads of country’s two largest institutions is a routine matter.
But the meeting between PM and CJP will prove to be more damaging than fruitful for the country, he added.
Earlier, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi held an extra-ordinary two-hour long meeting with CJP at latter’s chamber in Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SC) building in Islamabad.
The statement released by SC’s public relation officer stated that meeting was scheduled on request of PM Abbasi through Attorney General (AG). The meeting was held in pleasant environment.
“The chief justice assured the Prime Minister that he will look into the matter and such litigation shall be fast tracked,” the statement said.
“The Honourable Prime Minister also informed the Honourable Chief Justice that the Council of Common Interest (CCI) had approved the water policy which will help in fruition of Honourable Chief Justice’s efforts in that direction”, read the statement.
