SUKKUR: At least nine people, including a woman, were killed while several sustained severe wounds as roof of a kiln constructed to roast the date-palm fruit collapsed in Sukkur Wednesday.
According to details, the roof caved in due to gas explosion when more than 80 labourers were working in the kiln. A rescue operation is underway to recover the victims trapped under the rubble.
Meanwhile, contingents of armed forces and Rangers have also arrived at the scene to assist the rescue process.
On the other hand, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has expressed regret at the loss of lives and directed the authorities to ensure best medical treatment to the sufferers.
