Murder of Latif Lala: Legal fraternity observes strike

PESHAWAR: The legal fraternity observed nationwide strike against murder of senior lawyer and former president Supreme Court Bar Association Latif Afridi while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council announced three-days mourning against the killing, on Tuesday.

Along with lawyer’s associations, the civil society also condemned the brutal killing of senior lawyer inside Peshawar High Court Bar Room and demanded stern actions against responsible for security lapses.

Vice President KPBC Muhammad Ali Jadoon, PHC Bar Association president Rahman Ullah along with Farooq Afridi, Syed Mubashir Shah, Nauman Kakakhel, Zahid Mohmand, Syed Abdul Fayyaz, Ali Gohar Durrani, Amin-ur-Rehman, Babar Khan Yousafzai, Sangeen Khan, Anwar-ul-Haq, Shams-ul-Hadi, Sardar Waqar Jawad, Nasir Naeem Umarkheli and Amjad Hassan Tanoli condemned the murder of senior lawyer while demanded action against competent authorities responsible for court’s security.

KPBC demanded implementation Lawyer Protection Act and facilitations in obtaining arm’s licenses for legal fraternity on priority basis. The court’s proceedings didn’t take place due to strike while the losses of senior lawyer had made environment was mournful.

During funeral prayer of Latif Afridi large number of people from every walk of life had participated while paid tribute to late lawyers and praised his commitment for human rights and supremacy of constitution.
