KABUL (Pajhwok): Shah Mahmood Miakhel has been appointed as the new governor of Nangarhar province while Hayatullah Hayat has been transferred to Kandahar and appointed as the new governor, A statement from the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said on Monday.
The new appointments took place on the orders of the president and suggestion of the IDLG, the statement said.
According to the sources Miakhel and Hayat are experienced personalities with higher education background.
Hayat remained the governor of Helmand, Maidan Wardak and recently served as the governor of Nangarhar.
Miakehl remained head of the US Peace Institute (UPI) in Afghanistan.
