JALALABAD: The Special Forces of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted a night raid against ISIS militants in eastern Nangarhar province killing at least four militants including two foreign nationals.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the raid was conducted late on Sunday night in the vicinity of Chaparhar district. The statement further added that the NDS Special Forces also destroyed a hideout of the terror group during the same operations.
The Special Forces of NDS also confiscated a PKM machine gun, two Ak-47 assault rifles, a hand grenade, ammunition magazines, munitions, explosives and some other military kits and destroyed them in the area, the provincial government added in its statement.
The anti-government armed militants including ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the operation so far. Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the security situation in some of its remote districts have deteriorated during the recent years.
Both Taliban and ISIS militants are active in some remote districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.(Khaama Press)
