HELMAND CITY: The Afghan Special Forces stormed key compounds of Taliban in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan killing at least 19 militants.
The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in a statement said the Special Forces of the directorate stormed Taliban compounds in Greshk district of Helmand province killing 19 militants of the group.
The statement further added that the compound belonged to Taliban group leader Bari Gul where Vehicle-borne Improvise Explosive Devices (car bombs) and Improvised Explosive Devices were being made.
The Special Forces of the National Directorate of Security confiscated some weapons and other military kits besides destroying two compounds of Taliban, NDS added in its statement.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operation so far.
Helmand is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province where often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.(Khaama Press)
