NEW DELHI: Farooq Abdullah, former chief minister of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK), has said that negotiation is the only way to solve the Kashmir dispute and war for Kashmir between India and Pakistan will further destabilize the region.
Abdullah said this while talking to media persons in New Delhi on Friday. He said that it is the only solution that both the countries sit and talks about 70 years old dispute of Kashmir.
He said that both India and Pakistan are nuclear and one mistake from any side will bring catastrophic to the region and its impact will not wash out.
Abdullah criticized those people who advocating violence and termed them living in paradise of fools and adding that they only wants to win their own seat in their respective constituencies.
He also expressed his disagreement over Indian prime minister Narendra Modi government’s Pakistan policy, saying that the two countries would have to talk to resolve the 70-year-old Kashmir dispute.
He claimed that former Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had offered Pakistan to keep Azad Kashmir during his visit to Lahore, and India would keep the territory on its side of Line of Control. But, that proposal could not be implemented.
He also demanded from the US to play the role of mediator between India and Pakistan to resolve the dispute.
