Monitoring Desk

KABUL: More than a dozen political groups on Wednesday announced their alliance to fight the current crises and play the role of mediator between the Afghan government and the Taliban.

Fifteen political parties including the Hezb-i-Milli Islami Afghanistan, Hezb-i-Hambastagi Mardum Saadatmand Afghanistan, Hezb-i-Jamhori Khwahan Milli Afghanistan and others are part of the alliance.

Shah Mahmood Popal, who heads the alliance, said they formed the alliance to work for solution to the country’s crises and create an effective government which could dealt with corrupt individuals.

He said their alliance wanted a government which could ensure the rule of law, justice and a transparency system of punishment and reward.

Popal said the alliance would take its final decision whether to create its own electoral team or support another presidential candidate in the July 20 election.

He added their alliance would support a team that had the ability to deal with the current situations.

Abdul Qahir Shariati, deputy head of the alliance, demanded the establishment of peace and the conduct of the presidential election. “Parties involved in the conflict cannot establish peace, a mediator is needed to talk to both the sides.” (Pajhwok)
