Paragon housing scam: Court extends physical remand of Khawaja brothers till April 18

F.P. Report

LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday has extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique for 14 days in the Paragon Housing Society scheme scandal.

As the hearing underway, NAB produced Khawaja brothers before the court and Judge Najmul Hassan preside over the proceedings.

The court asked NAB prosecutor about the status of the investigation and when the reference will be filed against both the brothers?

To this, the NAB prosecutor replied, the reference will be filed soon after the investigation concludes.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 18 after granting 14 days remand of the Khawaja brothers.

Saad Rafique said the NAB had no proof against him or his brother. “Whoever talks about the rights faces the same treatment that we are currently going through,” he moaned.

He said he was facing the [cruel] treatment for adhering to the constitution and the law.

Rafique and his brother were arrested on Dec 11 after the Lahore High Court rejected their bail plea.

NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November last year after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against the fraud committed by the housing society.
