Peshawar witnesses decline in terror acts

PESHAWAR: Capital City Police Chief Tahir Khan said that 52% decline has been witnessed in terrorism-related incidents in the provincial capital in 2017 as compared to previous year.

CCPO Peshawar Tahir Khan shared an annual progress report of Peshawar Police during a press briefing at Malik Saad Police Line. He said that due an effective strategy of Peshawar police the terrorist acts have reduced to 52% and cops foiled several terror bids and saved thousands of precious lives, adding that police has recovered 356-kilogram explosive material, nine suicide jackets, 278 hand grenades and 398 prima cords in the current year. Mr. Tahir sitting in the middle of SSP Operation Javed Iqbal and SSP Investigation SSP Investigation Nissar Ahmad Khan, informed media persons that Peshawar Police carried out 2,125 joint search operations and arrested 20892 proclaimed offender.

Mr. Tahir did not share any statistics related to street crime but he claimed that street crimes are also reduced in Peshawar due to efforts of Peshawar Police as compare to previous years.

Tahir Khan added that Peshawar Police also launched a crackdown against drug peddlers and recovered 5280 kg hashish, 220 kg heroin, seven kg meth, 83 kg opium, 3554 bottles of liquor and 4780 liters desi alcohol.
