PHC acquits alleged smuggler

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice SM Attique acquitted alleged smuggler over lack of evidence, on Tuesday.

According to prosecution, police has arrested the petitioner on 6th September 2021 while smuggling drugs including 12 kilo hashish, 11 kilos heroine and six kilos through truck in the premises of Nowshera Cant police station.

The counsel Muhammad Saeed Khan Advocate argued that trial court has convicted Arshad Ali for lifetime imprisonment which is illegal because evidences and witness produced in the case are contradictory in itself.

The counsel argued that prosecution has failed to established link between the offense and petitioner any sphere, however, divisional bench of PHC acquitted alleged smuggler from the charges after conclusion of arguments.
