PHC dismisses WPs against DSPs promotion

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Rooh-ul-Amin and Justice Ijaz Anwar has dismissed writ petitions against recently promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).

The counsel for promoted officers Amin-ur-Rehman Advocate informed that provincial government has prepared working papers for promotion of Inspectors to DSPs on vacant seats. He argued that Advance Course is mandatory under Police Rules for promotion to DSP rank.

Following Supreme Court judgements in this regard the merit list was reshuffled in which some policemen came up for promotion while someone gone to bottom. The newcomers to the merit list was directed for 16th Advance Course to become eligible for promotion DSP rank, the counsel argued.

However, Sikandar Shah along with other DSPs who gone to bottom has challenged the 16th Advance Course at PHC and seeking to consider previous advance course while High Court has granted status quo in this regard.

Although, Aman-ur-Rehman along with other approached Peshawar High Court (PHC) arguing that junior officers are promoting by Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) while seeking to didn’t finalize the procedure till disposal of writ petition.

It is worthy to mention that the second writ leads to concealment of earlier writ in which status quo was granted by Peshawar High Court.

The divisional bench of PHC comprising of Justice Rooh-ul-Amin and Justice Ijaz Anwar has dismissed both the writ petitions after conclusion of arguments while Provincial Police Chief, Additional Inspector General of Police headquarters, AIGP Investigation, Capital City Police Officer, RPO Mardan& Kohat and AIGP Establishment were made respondents in the petitions.
