PHC orders removal of Asma Alamgir’s name from ECL

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday ordered removal of the name of PPP leader Asma Alamgir from Exit Control List (ECL).

Two member bench of PHC comprising Justice Ikram Ullah and Justice Musarat Halali resumed hearing of the case pertaining to removal of PPP leader’s name from ECL.

Barrister Masroor Shah apprised the court that her name was put on ECL a year ago but not removed yet.

The Interior ministry had placed the name of the PPP leader on no fly list on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which has started investigation against her.

Asma Alamgir had approach the high court for removal of her name from ECL in order to fly to Saudi Arabia to perform Umra.The high court directed the interior ministry to remove her name from ECL.
