PM Abbasi approves Zahid Hamid resignation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday accepted the resignation of the Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid and it was approved after the hours of an agreement with the religious groups to end the sit-in at Faizabad interchange of Islamabad.

The resignation was tendered in line with the guarantor by a senior officer of Army Major General Faiz Hameed and as per the agreement the federal law minister will resign and government will release the arrested workers of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasoolilah.

In his resignation, the then law minister had claimed that he was not responsible for the controversy that stemmed out of Election Bill 2017.

‘I was not directly responsible for the introduction of the controversial amendment to the Finality of Prophethood declaration for electoral candidates,’ stated Hamid in his resignation letter.
