Only PM, political party has say in my resignation: Ishaq Dar

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Graft accusations-hit finance minister, Ishaq Dar has said on Monday that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would decide whether he would tender his resignation or continue the legal battle while keeping his federal ministry.

Dar addressed a press conference in the federal capital today after reportedly his counsel and prosecutor of graft watchdog exchanged barbs during court’s hearing earlier in the day.

The finance minister reiterated his stance over Pakistan’s economic growth during tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz since 2013. He said that international bodies of finance and economics have appreciated Pakistan’s growth.

He said that steps have been taken to boost exports and lessen imports. Dar said that exports have increased by six percent and the target for economic growth is set at six percent.

Pakistan’s economy was claimed to be nearing collapse in 2013 before the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz took over and the situation is entirely different today, he asserted.

The minister said that electricity projects to produce around 10,000 Mega Watt power are being set up while foreign reserves amount to over USD 18 billion.

He claimed that Pakistan would get rid of power outages by the end of this year.
