Police arrest 40-year-old groom to marry a minor girl in Badin

BADIN: Police raided in Qaudiabad area of Badin district on Sunday and arrested a 40-year-old man for attempting to marry a 10-year-old girl.

As per the private news channel, Police told that police team received information regarding the marriage that a man is trying to marry a minor girl in the area and it raided at the Nikah ceremony and arrested a 40 years old groom identified as Abdul Khaliq, and also arrested the nikhakhwan (cleric).

The arrested groom is married and a father of three and he said to police that he had paid Rs20,000 to the girl’s father for wedding expenses.

Various cases of child marriage have surfaced this year despite the practice being outlawed in the country.
