Police foil smuggling bid

LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics and arrested a man with huge quantity of Hashish near Manjiwala on Indus Highway. An official said that a police party set up temporary checking point on busy Indus Highway when DPO Arif Shebaz Khan received credible information about possible attempt of narcotics smuggling from tribal region to Karak district.

He said that the cops stopped a suspected motorcar coming from Gandi side and during search recovered 14 kg hashish from its hidden cavities. “The commodity was concealed in the windows of the vehicle and it was being transported to Khamedan chowk of Karak district”, he claimed. The official said that car driver Nawab Ali, a resident of Ghaznikhel village was arrested and a case was registered against him under relevant section of law. He said that police also impounded the motorcar and began investigation.
