Policeman killed in attack on voter registration center

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): One policeman has been killed and a second wounded as a result of an attack on a voter registration centre in northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Saturday.

Police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Rauf Taj told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Baghbano locality of Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital, late on Friday. Security forces arrested one of the attackers.

Abdullah, a resident of the area, confirmed the attack but had no information about the capture of the assailant. The Taliban have not yet commented on the assault.

Last week, two policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on a voter registration centre in the eastern city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
