ISLAMABAD: Polling is underway for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections in Islamabad and provincial capitals of the four provinces on Tuesday.
Apart from the provincial capitals, polling stations were also established in Multan, Bahawalpur and Abbottabad and the polling started at 9:00 am will continue till 5:00 pm without any interval.
Asma Jahangir group and Hamid Khan group is fighting for the president seat and a tough completion is expected between these two groups.
Asma Jahangir’s Independent group nominated Syed Muhammad Kaleem Khursheed while Hamid Khan’s Professional group is supporting Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari.
Total 44 candidates are contesting the election for 22 seats of the association and total of 2,989 voters can cast their votes, and most of the registered voters are based in Lahore.
Chairman Election Board Afrasiyab Khan is monitoring the election process.
Last year, Rashid Rizvi, of the Hamid Khan-led group, was elected the SCBA president.
