ISLAMABAD: The electricity price is likely to be increased by Rs1.30 as the power distribution companies have submitted a plea to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a raise in power tariff under quarterly adjustment, on Monday.

The plea has sought permission to collect Rs12.12 billion under the head of capacity payment.

It has also sought permission to collect an additional Rs4.61 billion under the head of maintenance and operation.

The plea said that Rs6.61 billion would be collected under the head of electricity theft and line losses.

It added that Rs10.24 would be collected under the head of using the electricity system.

The Nepra will conduct a hearing on the petition of power companies on November 14, 2023.
