F.P. Report
FAISALABAD: As protests over the failure of police to arrest the culprits behind the rape and murder of six-year-old girl in Jaranwala continued for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, the postmortem report of the victim girl confirmed that she was subjected to sexual assault before being murdered by her captors.
The minor girl had went missing on Sunday afternoon and later, her body bearing torture marks was recovered from fields near Sabzi Mandi at around 9:00 pm on the same day. She was shifted to a hospital for a medical examination to ascertain whether she was subjected to sexual abuse.
According to the medical examination report, the girl was sexually abused before being brutally murdered.
Residents of Jaranwala observed a shutter-down strike today, demanding of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident. Schools, shops and other businesses remained closed as a number of people took to the roads to protest against the police for failing to bring the culprit(s) to justice.
A first information report (FIR) of the incident has been registered against unidentified culprits on the complaint of the girl’s father. A large number of sexual assault cases have come to the light after the rape and murder of Kasur’s seven-year-old Zainab.
On Feb 17 , an anti-terrorism court of Lahore awarded four death penalties to the prime suspect, Imran Ali, for raping and murdering the minor in Kasur.
He was also sentenced to life imprisonment and a separate 7-year jail term.
