PTI’s Ali Jadoon elected as Nazim

ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Ali Khan Jadoon were elected Abbottabad district nazim and Sardar Waqar Nabi as district Naib Nazim by a big margin against PML-N Siddique Qureshi and Naheed Awan in the nazim and naib nazim election held here on Thursday.

According to official details, 77 members of total 76 were present in the house of which all of them polled their votes. PTI’s candidates Ali Khan Jadoon, son of Ex. Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon and Sardar Waqar Nabi got 45 votes, while PML-N’s candidates Siddique Qureshi and Naheed Awan received 31 votes.

Deputy Commissioner Capt (R) Aurangzeb Haider and Assistant commissioner Rooman Burana supervised the election as presiding and returning officers. It should be noted that Ex. District Nazim and Naib Nazim Sardar Sher Bahadur and Shoukat Tanoli were de-seated under defection clause after a long battle in the courts, (Election Commission, High Court and later at Supreme court) taking two and half-years time ending with the disqualification of three members inducing Nazim and Naib Nazim. Election on the three seats was held and PTI out of three seats got two seats and election officer fixed 5th April to complete the house.
