PTI’s Yasmin Rashid, CCPO Dogar’s audiotape surfaces

F.P. Report

LAHORE: PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid, while talking to former CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar in an alleged audio leak, said PTI Chairman Imran Khan was quite concerned about him, on Saturday.

According to TV channel, Dr Yasmin Rashid at the start of audio, asked, “How are you Dogar Sahib. Are you ok? Give us a good news?” The former CCPO said he was fine. She said the PTI chief is concerned asking  “Will the night will pass peacefully and calmly.”

She asked when he was going to take charge, upon which he replied that he had not received orders from Supreme Court.

He further said that his men were present there at Supreme Court waiting for the orders.

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday had reinstated Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) after he was suspended by the federal government last month.

Dogar, a BS-21 officer was suspended early November for apparently not ensuring security of the Governor House during a protest by PTI workers against the assassination attempt on former prime minister Imran Khan during the long march.

The Governor House officials had written to the chief secretary and IGP, stating that a mob had tried to break through the main gate on The Mall, burnt tyres and damaged CCTV cameras.

The capital city police neither took any measure to stop the protesters nor did it register a case against the attackers.

ECP summons meeting to mull Dogar’s reinstatement

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned a consultative meeting to discuss reinstatement of Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as CCPO Lahore.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am at the ECP office. Sources said the ECP will deliberate upon holding free, fair and transparent elections in the wake of Dogar’s reinstatement. Reservations of the other political parties on Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as CCPO Lahore will also be discussed.

After consultations, the ECP will present his point of view to the apex court of Pakistan.
