Quetta mosque blast

A bomb blast inside a mosque in Satellite Town area of Quetta on Friday evening martyred 15 people and injured 19 others; six of them are reported to be in critical condition. The dead include among others DSP Amanullah and Imam of the mosque. Three days ago a vehicle of Frontier Corps was targeted with motorbike laden with explosives, leaving two people dead and 14 others injured.

In addition to TTP breakaway militant groups and sectarian outfits, Baluch separatist militant organisations also carry out terrorist attacks in the insurgency hit restive province of Baluchistan. The province has 700 plus kilometer porous border with Afghanistan and has half a million Afghan refugees’ population. It is now an established fact that terrorists from their sanctuaries inside Afghanistan easily sneaked into Baluchistan get morphed with Afghan nationals and find handlers for facilitating attacks on security personnel and other citizens. The fencing of Pak-Afghan border in the frontline province of Baluchistan can also achieve the desired results, lowering the frequency of terrorist activities.

The Judicial Commission report on Quetta Hospital attack on August 2016, mentions certain glaring shortcomings in the Interior Ministry’s National Security and Internal Policy. There is dire need of chalking out a comprehensive national security policy.
