LOGAR (Ariana News): The reconstruction of the first phase of the Kharwar Dam project in Logar province started and will cost an estimated 31 million afghanis to complete.
The project was inaugurated in the presence of the acting minister of energy and water, Abdul Latif Mansoor; the governor of Logar, Zia-ul-Rahman Madani; senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), and the tribal elders of Logar Province, the ministry said.
During the opening of the project, Mansoor said that now is the time for economic development and progress.
He also said the ministry is genuinely striving to fulfill their responsibilities in this regard.
Madani meanwhile stated during the inauguration that the IEA is committed to providing tangible services to the people of Afghanistan and will work day and night to achieve this.
According to the ministry, work on Kharwar Dam originally started during the reign of Dawood Khan, but was never completed.
The Kharwar Dam is 36 meters high and 140 meters long, with the capacity to store 17 million cubic meters of water.
After completion, it will irrigate about 6,000 hectares of agricultural land, benefiting approximately 13,000 families, said the ministry.
