Salang pass closed for traffic

CHARIKAR: The Salang highway, connecting northern provinces with Kabul, has been closed for traffic as a result of heavy snowfall, an official said on Sunday. Eng. Abdul Basir Habibi, the highway’s maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News it had been snowing for the past three days.

The snowfall has been recorded at 120 centimetres. He said the highway was closed last night due to the danger of snowstorms. Vehicles have been parked in the Tajakan locality of Jabalus Saraj district and in Malakhan area of Baghlan province. (Pajhwok)
