SC issues written order of April 02 hearing on Asghar Khan case

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued the written order with regard to its hearing of the implementation of the Asghar Khan case decision.

The apex court in its order about April 02 hearing said that the report submitted by the ministry of defence was unavailable in the court record and directed Director Legal of the ministry to re-submit the said report.

The court order also said that some aspects of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report are required an explanation. The apex court also ordered the FIA to submit a detailed report about the core accounts and other matters within 10 days.

The bench adjourned the hearing of the case until April 22. A two-member bench of Supreme Court, headed by Justice Azmat Saeed, had heard Asghar Khan case on April 02.

The bench in its previous hearing, directed FIA to disclose who were operating bank accounts allegedly used to distribute money among politicians, identify which essential record is missing, and place on record evidence about those who received money and details of those who refused to accept it.

The FIA was also further ordered to apprise the court about the institutions or individuals, which were responsible for keeping the record of transactions, which are said to be missing now.

The bench was hearing the case pertaining to non-implementation of the apex court’s October 19, 2012 judgment in the Asghar Khan case.

Earlier, the FIA had said it could not obtain evidence to initiate criminal proceedings against the accused in the case.
