SHEBERGHAN/KUNDUZ: Nineteen persons, including security personnel, Daesh and Taliban gunmen suffered casualties in separate incidents in various parts of the country, officials said on Monday. Daesh gunmen attacked security checkpoints in Darzaab district, Jawzjan police chief Faqir M. Jawzjani told AIP.

Seven Daesh gunmen and a national police operative were killed while two security personnel sustained injuries in the gunfight, he said.

Meanwhile, a member of Jawzjan provincial assembly, Halima Sadaf said the Daesh fighters had surrounded security forces in Darzaab district. However, the police chief rejected the reports as false.

Darzaab, which is located at a distance of 180 kilometers from Sheberghan city, is considered to be a strong base of Daesh. The Daesh gunmen launch attacks from Darzaab into various parts of Jawzjan and Sare Pul.

Separately, Taliban attacked a security outpost in Bahadar Khan area in Khanabad district Monday, district executive officer Qudratullah Safi told AIP. Resultantly, a pro-government uprising volunteer was killed, he added.

Meanwhile, Kunduz governor’s spokesman Naimatullah Taimori said Taliban attacked Afghan National Army (ANA) checkpoint in Khawaja Pista area in Khanabad district. Three Taliban fighters were injured in the gunfight.

In a separate incident, Uruzgan governor’s spokesman Dost Muhammad Nayab told AIP that Taliban attacked security forces in Chapa Khak area in Tarinkot city.

Five Taliban fighters were killed and multiple more injured in the gunfight, he said. The security forces did not suffer any casualties, he added. The Taliban and Daesh have not said anything in this regard so far.
