Sehwan: 15 die due to heatstroke in last four days

F.P. Report

SEHWAN: At least 15 people have been died due to heatstroke in Sehwan, on Friday.

The officials of the Edhi Centre in Sehwan told local news channel that the death toll of devotees of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar had reached 15 as heatstroke had persisted in Sehwan for the last four days.

However, the deputy commissioner of Jamshoro and chairman of the Mela Committee Fareeduddin Mustafa has denied the reports of deaths due to heatstroke and contended that only seven people had died in the last four days in Sehwan city.

He claimed that all of them had died in the evening or at night when no heatstroke was likely.

The three-day celebrations of the 767th annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar began on April 23 in Sehwan Sharif amid tight security.

Thousands of devotees from across the country have arrived in the area for the celebrations.
