Shah Mehmood Qureshi under fire by brother in Urs ceremony

MULTAN: The Urs ceremony at the shrine of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya was marred the family dispute after PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s brother slapped a devotee resulting in a raft of political accusations.

Qureshi’s brother Mureed Hussain said Shah Mehmood knows nothing about religion. He should have led funerals and prayers if he has really a link with this shrine, but he is busy in seeking votes for Imran Khan.

Mureed Hussain said, “I tell you all that I have a spiritual relation with this shrine while you have just a political relation with it.”

Mureed claimed that he has been receiving death threats. He said, “None can stop me from being associated with this shrine,” said Mureed, who is associated with PPP, adding that “my father has handed over this seat to me.”

Earlier, altercation eruption between the two brothers before rosewater bath to the shrine; however, some elders present on the occasion intervened and averted further escalation.

He exchanged hot words with the PTI leader.

Three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Soharwardy have begun in Multan where a large number of devotees from across the country are participating in the Urs, paying respects to the great saint.

Mahafils of Waaz, naat and Qirat will also be held during three days.
