Students demand rehabilitation of Wana Degree College

WANA: The students of Wana Degree College have demanded immediate repair of the college building including the old hostel which is in dilapidated condition and may collapse anytime.

According to students, there are 37 rooms in the old boys’ hostel of college, but only eight rooms to some extent are in good conditions. The remaining 19 rooms are in deplorable conditions and most of them are without proper roofs, they claimed.

Scarcity of potable water in the premises of old hostel is the great problem for the students; the contaminated water in hostel may cause dangerous diseases for boarders. All bath rooms in the old hostel are usable on account of abodes of mosquitoes and other filthy insects present there.

Students of the hostel told The Frontier Post that college as well as political administrations had no sense to address the problems of students. They have closed their eyes over the miserable conditions of hostel and college.

They revealed that funds for repairing of hostel and college were being embezzled by the political administrations for the last few years and a penny had not been spent on the necessary repairing of hostels. They said that Students of the college have no canteen facility and they had to go to Wana bazaar for having two times meal in a day that waste their precious time.

The upper portion of college including 27 class rooms and halls containing entire furniture had burnt due to electricity short circuit in 2017. Government has not constructed the burnt portion of college yet.

Students’ leaders Imran Khan and Bashir Ahmad told this scribe that students have time and again submitted applications to the political administration for repairing of the college, but they did not pay any heed to their applications.

Water flows down to the offices from upper portion of the college in rain and cause damage to documents lying in the offices in lower portion of the college. They narrated. A science teacher requesting not be named said that science equipments and other essential chemical for experiments have gone expired. New equipments have not been provided to college by the govt.

Reliable source said that there is no staff for BA-B.Sc students in the college. Besides this, students have no play ground in the college and students play on a stony play ground in the college. Elders of Ahmadzai Wazir demanded of the government to get all basic problems of the college addressed on priority basis.
