World Press Freedom Day observed in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: Along with the rest of the world, tribesmen also observed World Press Freedom Day here in Tehsil Landi Kotal on Thursday in a bid to stand up for freedom of the press and journalists across the world.

In this connection under the banner of Landi Kotal press club, am impressive gathering was organized at Bacha square, main Bazaar that was attended by large number of tribal media persons, political workers, political administration officials, local tribesmen and members of civil society.

Addressing on the occasion Assistant Political Agent (APA) Landi Kotal, Niaz Muhammad who presided the meeting said that journalist community performed a sacred duty of informing the masses of facts and gave voice to the voiceless.

They welcomed every single positive criticism on administration to improve its abilities.

Other speakers including  Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Agency President Shah Hussain Shinwari, tribal leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Abdur Raziq Shinwari, Jamaat-e-Islami(JI)Khyber naib ameer Abdur Rauf, Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam, Fazal Rehman (JUI-F) FATA General Sectary Mufti Ijaz, Chairman  Clearing Agents Association, Torkham Mirajuddin, Pakistan People Party(PPP) local leader Atta Muhammad and others paid rich tribute to the journalist community and said the tribal media persons in spite of unfavorable condition convoyed their voices to rulers and granted converge to their miseries 7/24 and urged the government to ensure free press in the tribal belt.
