ISLAMABAD: Sardar Ahmad Shikib, the Taliban’s charge d’affaires in Islamabad, met with Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Asif Durrani, in the wake of recent Pakistani military airstrikes on Afghanistan. The meeting aimed to ease tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.
According to a statement from Shikib’s office, the discussions focused on addressing “the recent challenges between the two countries, rebuilding political, trade, and bilateral relations.”
The airstrikes by Pakistan last Monday targeted areas in Khost and Paktika provinces, resulting in the deaths of eight civilians, including women and children.
