Contempt case: Apex court adjourned hearing till March 6 against Tallal Chaudhry

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned a contempt of court case hearing against Minister of State for Interior Affairs Tallal Chaudry till March 6.

Supreme Court had initiated contempt proceedings against Tallal Chaudry for his derogatory and contemptuous speeches with regard to the court, according to a notification.

The three member bench of the apex court presiding by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, inquired the defendant if he had submitted his response to which the latter responded in positive.

Tallal Chaudhry appeared before the court without his legal counsel and he informed the court about the adjournment request of his lawyer, who is on official leave until March 5.

Earlier on February 24, the outspoken leader of PML-N had requested the court to withdraw the case as he always respected the court and didn’t meant to undermine the court respect or pointing towards courts in his speeches.

Federal Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz was also served a contempt of court notice by the Supreme Court on Feb 2, reportedly over his controversial speeches and statements made during various TV talk shows.
