ISLAMABAD (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said on Saturday that it does not matter whether Jahangir Khan Tareen, a disqualified leader of the party, holds a party position or sits in the parliament, he would remain right next to him.
PTI leader stated in two posts on the social media that there Tareen was disqualified by the top court in a corruption probe only on interpretation of the trust deed unlike Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president who is allegedly guilty of money laundering.
Khan wrote: “No financial wrongdoing [was] found ag[ainst] JKT [Jahangir Khan Tareen] – disqualified only on interpretation of Trust deed.”
“JKT you have shown unswerving commitment to the cause of Naya Pakistan & worked with utmost dedication for our cause,” he added.
He asserted that the disqualified secretary general of PTI would remain right next to him despite tendering his resignation over principles as they would build a ‘new Pakistan’ together.
Statement of Khan came in after he presided over a meeting of the core body of PTI to review the prevailing situation of the political front after Tareen was disqualified as MNA by the top court on Friday.
Tareen was disqualified in a corruption probe pursued by Hanif Abbasi, a leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
PTI chief had approved Tareen s resignation during the meeting today as secretary general of the party while appointment of a fresh member was deferred until the apex court delivers a verdict on review petition filed on Tareen s disqualification.
