Teenage suspect arrested for abusing, killing minor boy in KP

HARIPUR: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a teenage suspect on charges of abusing and killing a seven-year-old boy in Haripur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Police said that the seven-year-old boy went missing on Thursday evening and his body found from a garbage dump in the fields on Friday morning. Rescue officials shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital for medico-legal formalities. Postmortem confirmed that the boy was killed after being abused.

Police on the direction of KP IG launched investigation and immediately arrested a suspect, 15-year-old boy, from his neighborhood. The suspect, in police custody, confessed of killing the boy. The police said that the suspect was the neighbor of the deceased boy.

KP Inspectors General of Police directed to form a high-level joint investigation team to conduct transparent probe.

On the other hand, KP spokes person said that the government would take measures to stop these types of heinous crimes and added that the suspect would be given strict punishment.

He said that the provincial government had formed a committee to probe into the incident.

Earlier, Punjab police on February 9 had arrested two people including a milkman for allegedly raping and killing a seven-year-old girl in Faisalabad.

According to police, the dead body of a seven-year-old girl was recovered from a factory in Awami Street area of Faisalabad. Medico-legal examination revealed that the girl was brutally raped before being murdered.

The girl’s father hd told media that his daughter went missing at around 1PM on Friday upon which they approached the police which recovered the girl’s body from the factory after an hours-long search operation.
