Torkham border to reopen till midnight

LANDI KOTAL: Government of Pakistan has decided to keep the Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham open on trial basis for export and import process till 12:00 pm. In routine, the border is suspended at 07:00 pm.

In this connection flag meeting of Pakistan and Afghanistan border officials was held here at Torkham border last day in which it was principally approved that the border would remain functional for clearance purpose on experimental basis at 12:00 pm daily for a week.

According to the officials the initiative was taken to expedite clearance process and it would be continued for week. Additional Director Transit Trade Faisal Bukhari while confirming the news said that last day it was agreed of officials of both the countries that Torkham border would function till 12:00 pm at midnight daily, only for a week. He maintained that vehicles loaded with exports and imports commodities would be allowed to cross the border and through rapid clearance process exporters and importers would be facilitated. Officer bearers of Khyber chamber of commerce appreciated the new development at the border and said it would end clearing pendency at Torkham border and would certainly enhance export of the country.
