The issued warning by the Afghanistan Meteorological Department is valid from 20th June to 21st June for a number of listed provinces where the amount of rainfall is estimated to be 20-70mm.
The provinces listed in the issued flash flood warning are: Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Samangan, Nooristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Panjshir, Parwan, Paktia, Khost, Kandahar and other provinces.
During the day, the provinces of Jawzjan, Faryab, and Balkh experienced strong winds, which is said to have caused technical issues for 220 kW power stations installed importing power from Turkmenistan.
The latest flash floods in northern provinces of Afghanistan, especially Parwan and Faryab, wreaked havoc in early May.
The deluge killed almost over 20 people, leaving over 100 houses demolished and 260 others rendered unusable resulting in numerous Afghans displacement.
The Afghanistan Meteorological Department official website also notes some precautions and tips to be remembered while experiencing a flash flood.
