UK not supporting violentactors against Kabul: Shorter

DOHA (TOLOnews): The UK does not support anyone, including Afghan nationals, seeking to achieve political change through violence, or any activity inciting violence for political purposes in Afghanistan, the Chargé d’Affaires at the UK Mission to Afghanistan in Doha, Hugo Shorter said.
In a statement, Shorter said the UK will not allow its “soil to be used to plan or prepare it, and we strongly discourage others from doing so.” Shorter’s statement was also welcomed by the Islamic Emirate.
“We confirm the stance of the UK to not support anyone who wants to create a military riot. We call on all the countries to not have any kind of engagement with those who try to pose insecurity in the country,” said Islamic Emirate’s Spokesman Zabiullah. Shorter’s statement said that “violence of any kind is not in Afghanistan’s interests, nor the international community’s, and we deplore terrorist attacks of all kinds.”
“This statement shows direct support of the UK for the Taliban. It means diplomatic figures and officials are supporting the Taliban and don’t favor any type of resistance against the Taliban,” said Asadullah Nadeem, a military analyst.
“This doesn’t mean that someone will not have diversity of thoughts with the Taliban. It doesn’t mean that Britain recognizes the government in Kabul,” said Torek Farhadi, a political analyst.
“These remarks show that the UK is still open for peaceful engagement with the Taliban and nothing beyond that is on the table for Britain at the moment,” said Noorullah Raghi, former diplomat. This comes as no country has so far recognized the current government of the Islamic Emirate.
