Two bank officials record statements in corruption reference against Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court recorded the statement of two prosecution witnesses on Monday in the corruption case against the finance minister Ishaq Dar.

As the proceeding began, Dar’s counsel, Khawaja Harris, had a heated exchange. Both the officials of two private banks, recorded their statements and were cross-examined by Harris.

On Monday as the hearing began in the accountability court, the finance minister Ishaq Dar along with the CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and other party leaders and it was the seventh hearing of Dar before the accountability court in the corruption case.

Abdul Rehman Gondal recorded his statement after which he was cross-examined by Harris. During the cross-examination, a heated war of words ensued between Harris and NAB prosecutor Imran Shafiq, with the former taunting the latter for reportedly influencing the witness.

The hearing was then adjourned until October 31.
