ISLAMABAD (APP): Uzbekistan’s hockey team will arrive Pakistan on April 27 for a two-week tour to play a five-match test series against Pakistan’s Development Squad.
“Currently, we are not able to send our team abroad due to scarcity of funds, hence we have decided to invite some foreign teams to visit us,” Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Shehbaz Ahmed Senior told APP on Wednesday.
He said to form a strong Development Squad, a hockey league had kicked off in Gojra on Wednesday wherein five teams were featuring.
“This league will continue for a week and we are sure this will help us identify talent for our Development Squad,” he said. He said the test series against Uzbekistan would take place in Lahore. Secretary PHF said by the end of year ,Poland’s national team would also visit Pakistan.
“We are also planning to hold a top quality floodlight tournament after the holy month of Ramzan. Youth from across the country will be part of that tournament. “This will help us select players for Pakistan Hockey League,” he added.
