Veteran TV, theater actress Madeeha Gauhar passes away

LAHORE: Veteran actress, playwright and director of social theatre Madeeha Gauhar passed away on Wednesday in Lahore.

According to the family sources, her funeral prayers will be offered on Thursday evening. The senior actress was suffering from cancer for the past three years.

Madeeha founded Ajoka Theatre in 1984 as part of her commitment to theatre for social change. Madeeha is the first Pakistani to receive a prestigious Prince Claus Award for her leadership and commitment for the Ajoka Theater.

Madeeha was married to veteran writer and director Shahid Nadeem and was the elder sister of renowened actress Faryal Gauhar. Her daughter, Savera Nadeem, is also an actress, director, and producer.
