WJ launches probe into Satter killing

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: Members of the appointed delegation by President Ghani to investigate Amer Abdul Sattar’s killing said on Wednesday that Mir RahmanRahmani, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) of Afghanistan, is preventing them from assessing the case.

After the killing of AmerSattar, President Ghani in a meeting with elders of Kapisa, Panjshir and Parwan provinces extended his condolences to Amer Abdul Sattar’s family and ordered an investigation into the incident.

“We called Mir Rahman to say that the president had appointed a delegation. Based on what law do you appoint another delegation?” said Habib Afghan, a member of the delegation appointed by the president. “I hoped that we would be allowed to investigate, and we would share the results after complete investigations with them also,” said MirdadNajrabi, a member of the delegation appointed by president.

Meanwhile, Mir RahmanRahmani said that the appointed delegation can’t find the facts, and because of this the Wolesi Jirga has also made a delegation to investigate the case completely. He also accused the appointed delegation–four of them are members of Wolesi Jirga of coordinating with the government. “AmerSattar talked with me six days before his death. The conflict was between Sattar’s brother and the commander Dadullah. The delegation which was appointed was related to Dadullah. We appointed a fact finding delegation and are waiting for its result,” said Rahmani.

On the other hand, the delegation that was appointed by the Internal Security Commission of the Wolesi Jirga and members of the Wolesi Jirga from Parwan province said that progress has been made in their investigations.

“When you made the delegation we started work on that day and our work will be continuing. No one will be an obstacle in this case,” said Abdul ZahirSalangi, a member of the Wolesi Jirga, and a member of the delegation appointed by the Wolesi Jirga.

“When we finalize the report, we will share the outcome with the people of Afghanistan via a press conference to investigate the case via justice and judicial organizations,” said NazifaZaki, a member of the Wolesi Jirga and a member of the delegation appointed by theWolesi Jirga.

Amer Abdul Sattar was a former mujahideen leader who was killed with four others in an operation by the National Directorate of Security’s (NDS) special unit in the north of Kabul.(TOLOnews)
