Worse kind of martial law prevalent in Pakistan, says Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has claimed that worse kind of martial law had been imposed in the country under CJP Saqib Nisar.

This he said while talking to media persons outside the accountability court on Monday. While refereeing to the recent actions of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, Nawaz Sharif added that how can anyone call it democracy, it is worse kind of dictatorship.

PML-N Quaid for life added that what is happening in the country was not less than a ‘judicial martial law and some restrictions being imposed today, that were not even enforced during the martial law days in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif claimed that some forces trying hard to get him convicted in the corruption cases which are being heard by the accountability court.

Nawaz also pointed towards the statement of JI Chief Siraj-ul-Haq regarding the massive horse trading i the recent senate elections.

Nawaz questioned that Imran Khan should also ask himself on whose orders his party gave votes Pakistan Peoples Party in the recent senate elections.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar appeared before the accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir, after they landed back from London – where Kulsoom Nawaz is undergoing treatment.

NAB had filed three corruption references against the Sharif family, on the directives of the Supreme court, including Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment, offshore companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties of London.

Nawaz Sharif and his sons Hussain and Hasan are accused in all three references whereas his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar are named in the Avenfield reference.
